Now at Featherbed Farmyard, Featherbed Lane, Iwade, off Sheppey Way you can browse the Garden Centre and enjoy afternoon tea or a light lunch at Total Gardening Land, as well as feeding the chickens and goats, seeing all the animals and buying your free-range Featherbed chicken eggs and local fruit and veg. A good few hours entertainment for you and the children on your doorstep. Just head out of Iwade past the Health Centre and you'll find Featherbed Farmyard on the left.

The Garden Centre and Tea Rooms, Total Gardening Land, is a family-run business with Audrey Smith heading up the Tea Room, daughter Sam heading up the Garden Centre and Melvin running Total Landscaping which has been going for 20 years. The tea room sells light lunches, hot and cold drinks, cream teas and cakes and is excellent value. You can find the tea room in a light and airy cabin in the outside Garden Centre area. There are seats inside and out so you can enjoy light refreshment in all weathers. There is even a children's area with toys, table and chairs and books to keep the children occupied. The Garden Centre sells ready-made hanging baskets, pots and fun garden accessories inside. Outside you can find a wide range of plants and shrubs to adorn your garden including fruit trees and herbs.

Total Landscaping is run by Melvin Smith, who not only has 20 years experience in landscaping but found fame on the Channel 4 program House Auction when he undertook a two week garden makeover on a bungalow in the Broadway, Minster. The makeover was a great success and turned the overgrown garden into a paradise complete with pergola and decking. Property owner Mike Setford said it "turned out better than he could have dreamed".

At Featherbed Farm Shop you can buy goat food and chicken food for 20 pence a bag giving the children lots of entertainment. Mark Harding, owner, has plans to further open up the farm this year so watch this space. There's goats, pigs, a turkey, guinea pigs, doves, shetland ponies, cockerels, hens, ferrets and currently chicks in the Farm Shop and ducklings in a pen outside.

The eggs from Featherbed are all free-range and it's comforting to see where they came from. You can also buy fruit and veg, Iwade-produced fudge, pet food and hay, drinks, cakes...

Why not head over there with the family this weekend and see what's on offer for yourself. You'll be pleasantly surprised! Or call Total Landscaping on 01795 871425 or 07714 172078.
