Where are we?

When should you make an appointment with your GP?

Before you make an appointment to see your GP, consider the alternatives shown below. Your local pharmacist may be able to give you the help you need and if not direct you to the most appropriate healthcare professional.

If you feel that you do need to see the GP, you can make an appointment at Iwade Health Centre by:

  • Calling the surgery from 8am on 01795 413100
  • Visiting the surgery

If you feel that you need an appointment, call the surgery as above. The receptionist will try to find you an ‘on-the-day’ appointment or ask the duty doctor for advice as most appropriate.

If it is outside of surgery hours, but you need urgent (not life-threatening) advice, you should call NHS 111

For life threatening emergencies, you must call 999

The appointment slots are for 10 minutes – to cover ONE issue. If you have more than one problem, decide which is most important and start from there. If you have several, or a complicated problem ask for a longer appointment when you book and the receptionist will do their best to help.

Accident & Emergency Services

Patient Participation Group resign after 5 years

Patient Participation Group Stand Down

Following an extraordinary meeting on 18th January 2023 and after 5 years of representing patients of Iwade Health Centre, Iwade Patient Participation Group (PPG) members made the difficult decision to resign with immediate effect. This came following "a complete lack of communication from Medway Practice Alliance Ltd relating to" their role as a PPG. I'm sure patients will join me in thanking the PPG for their representation and support this difficult decision.

Covid 19 @ Iwade Health Centre

Iwade Health Centre currently have a high number of staff self-isolating due to Covid 19, and a member of staff unwell with Covid 19.

We are working hard to make sure that services remain accessible for all patients. We are continuing to offer telephone and video consultations for patients, along with face-to-face appointments when clinically necessary.

Patients may experience a delay in getting though on our telephone lines as a number of staff are either ill or self-isolating.

Online services continue to be available on the practice website and we would encourage patients who can use these to do so. If you are unable to get through to the practice and you have an urgent medical need, please call NHS 111.

Prescriptions will continue to be processed. Please make sure you order any repeat medication in good time.

We would like to apologise to all our patients for any inconvenience and thank them for their support and understanding as we take the necessary steps to keep patients and other staff safe from infection and protect the NHS.

Iwade Health Centre July 19th

As of yet the surgery has not received any official guidelines, regarding changes to COVID-19 related restrictions to GP services.

Due to the very fast increasing case numbers of COVID-19 in the area the surgery has made the decision to NOT make any changes to how it currently operates from the 19th July.

Face masks will still be asked to be worn if attending the surgery, our doors will remain closed, initial telephone triage will continue and you will be asked to pass screening questions before entering the surgery should you be asked to attend.

These decisions have been carefully made in order to protect, staff, patients, family and friends of all.

Thank-you for your continued cooperation.

Vaccination Latest

According to Gordon Henderson, the second Vaccination Hub on Sheppey is not open to the general public but has been contracted to deliver vaccinations to the health and social workforce including care home staff in Swale. This will be expanded as more vaccines become available. This was in response to Sheppey appearing to have 2 hubs before Sittingbourne's hub opened on Saturday 16th January.

According to NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group who contract the primary hubs including Age UK in Sittingbourne, they will be launching large vaccination sites across the county that eligible people can book on to. They also said that their focus has been to establish one vaccination service for each of their 42 Primary Care Groups (groups of GPs working together) and that more locations may follow as the vaccination programme is extended.

Credit to both Gordon Henderson and KMCCG who were both very responsive to IV's vaccination questions!

Iwade Health Centre Announcement

Telephone (01795) 413100; Email: iwade.hc@nhs.net

As many of you are aware, Iwade Health Centre was being used by NHS England during the pandemic and patients were being seen at Sheppey Hospital. We are pleased to say that from Monday 10th August we will be seeing patients at the surgery again. All face to face appointments will now be held at the surgery NOT at Sheppey Hospital.

HOWEVER, we still need to ensure that all of our patients and staff are protected and therefore the following changes will be in place:

  • The surgery will NOT be open for patients to walk in.
  • If you need an appointment please contact the surgery by phone. You will then receive a telephone call initially and if the clinician feels you need to be seen they will arrange an appointment for you.
  • If you need a repeat prescription, a medical certificate or have a query, please contact us via email or telephone.
  • Please note that we are being very careful about not having too many people in the surgery at any one time. Therefore please adhere to the following when attending for an appointment:
    • Patient ONLY to attend unless a parent or carer is needed in which case ONE additional person is allowed to come.
    • Please attend at the time of your appointment and ring the doorbell outside. If there is a delay you may be asked to wait in your car until the waiting room is free. Please DO NOT come late to your appointment as you may have to rebook.
    • As much as possible please do not bring bags or coats with you as this creates more contact and therefore more risk of passing on an infection.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT IF YOU HAVE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS, TRAVELLED ABROAD TO A HIGH-RISK AREA WITHIN THE LAST 14 DAYS OR BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE WITH A CONFIRMED CASE OF CORONAVIRUS. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION GO TO 111.nhs.uk.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE A MASK OR FACE COVERING WHEN YOU ATTEND THE SURGERY

We thank you all for your continued support and cooperation during this time.

Kind Regards
