Iwade Tours Kennet & Avon Canal Horse Barge
Sunday 12 April 00:00
What?
As we visit the Kennet & Avon Canal Horse Barge, at Kintbury, near Newbury,
Berkshire. Why not come with us as we journey back to appreciate the beauty of the countryside and the slower and peaceful
pace of yesteryear. It is a great way to escape from our hectic modern life on the tranquil Kennet & Avon Canal. Just sit back
and soak up the beauty of the countryside from a totally different viewpoint. The horse drawn barge ‘Kennet Valley’ is powered
solely by a shire horse, either Monty or Drummer, who pull the barge by horse power alone. The Horse Barge is painted in the
traditional rose and castle style and is an important part of England's heritage and is one of the few remaining horse-drawn
barges in the country. On board there are plenty of seats, a toilet, gift kiosk, and a bar. Our 2 hour cruise will include a
ploughman’s lunch, followed by apple pie & cream plus tea or coffee, which will be served on board during our cruise and of
course if you would like to feed the shire horse, l am sure he would welcome an apple or carrot for lunch as well?
