The main road in and out of Iwade to and from the Grovehurst flyover will be closed from Monday 13th October for two weeks

So the Grovehurst Flyover is open all directions as at Weds 8th October albeit with many cones and single lane but The Street outside the Woolpack is closed until midnight Friday 10th October according to one network due to a water leak. Apparently the leak is fixed but they are doing maintenance work. Disruption to buses and traffic as key route.

If you live on Meadow Brown View or around Peach Blossom Drive you may be interested in the current planning application in consultation. In April 2026, Claire and Susie Colston are riding a motorbike and sidecar from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise funds for Headway, the brain injury association. They have already raised over £700 on their justgiving page and are organising an event on Saturday 21st February 2026 at Iwade Barn a Grade II listed building with raffle and an opportunity to ride in the sidecar!

The development of 466 properties including a new village hall and a country park is now much more evident as the development area has been fully fenced off both at the Wigeon Road end and at the back of Woodpecker Park. If you have noticed a planning application to demolish the current village hall we understand that this will not be done until the new village hall in a different location is ready but we will investigate further. The word on the street (Ferry Road) is that the ownership of Iwade's Ferry Road 5-6 year old leak(s) is in question still but that Southern Water fixed a couple of probably inconsequential smaller leaks when they were digging up the road last week but found a larger leak on the other side of the road. Watergate continues ...

According to the 2025 Annual Parish Meeting Minutes May 2025 Iwade Parish Council requested a water test and it showed that it was tap water so Southern Water's responsibility.
